Event Description:
Across OECD countries, governments are seeking policies to make education more effective while searching for additional resources to meet the increasing demand for education. How is the US succeeding in meeting these challenges compared with its international competitors? The US remains the most popular country in which to study at the university level but as the internationalization of education grows rapidly, the US market share of students is falling. Does this point to a need for more pro-active marketing by US institutions?
The OECD’s annual Education at a Glance examines these and many other aspects of the performance of education systems internationally. This widely-quoted compendium enables countries to see themselves in the light of other countries’ performance and to inform the policy debate. It provides a rich, comparable and up-to-date array of indicators on the performance of education systems and represents the consensus of professional thinking on how to measure the current state of education internationally. This year’s edition will be released the morning of September 12 in Washington with the OECD Director for Education.
