Event Description:
The OECD Washington Center and the Institute for the Study of International Migration at Georgetown University welcome you to join us for this presentation and discussion session with Georges Lemaitre, OECD International Migration Specialist. Until the recent economic crisis, labor migration in OECD countries outside the United States was on an upswing, at all skill levels. Movements are now contracting, but can be expected to resume growing with the recovery. This presentation will provide an overview of what's been happening with respect to labor migration in OECD countries in recent years, how the economic crisis has affected policies and movements and what can be expected down the line. It will cover, among others, the effects of European Union enlargement, growing student migration and the increasing importance of India And China as source countries for Europe.
